Coffee Break #28 The Unhealthy Option at Guru Coffee House

Having made the ten minute train ride from Cheltenham to Gloucester for lunch with Sarah and Adam of Lewis Loves, we had to make the most of the short journey by also visiting Guru Coffee House for some dessert.

Guru Coffee House is all about healthy, nutritious and delicious food and drink which I am ever so slightly passionate about (if you’ve ever heard me going on one of my rants!). They select what they serve carefully, and much of it is locally sourced and organic. They have a fantastic breakfast menu packed with quality ingredients, and they do juices and smoothies too.

We however, didn’t visit on a particularly healthy day, having just had a rather large lunch at TANK we opted for the more unhealthy option of cake! I mean, what’s the point of having a smoothie after devouring a bucket of skin-on fries?!

Between us we tested out the Victoria Sponge and Coffee & Walnut Cake and got rather excited when our tea arrived in glass teapots with matching cups and saucers. I had the Moroccan Mint Tea which was a thousand times better than the dried up bags I usually have at home; Sarah had an Assam Tea and Adam a coffee, with a biscuit on the side - which he saved ‘til later seeing as we had rather over-indulged.

We were so comfortable nattering away and lounging on their big leather sofas, we didn’t realise that we’d stayed past closing time! A very comfy spot and I really want to return to try out their breakfast menu!
