Local Eat Treats #9 Celebrating 9 Years at Ellenborough Park Brasserie

On Sunday we celebrated nine years of putting up with each other! We’d heard that Ellenborough Park Brasserie had a good deal on, so we took advantage and booked in for a feast!

Other than afternoon tea and trying the chef’s culinary delights at Gloucestershire’s Finest we hadn’t eaten at this luxury hotel.

It’ not the cheapest place on earth most of the time, but I’ll let you in on a secret, because at the moment they are doing two courses for £15 and 3 courses for £20. From the minute we walked through the door we were treated like a King and Queen! My coat was taken off to the cloakroom and we sat in the bar for a drink whilst we perused the menu. We were then shown to our table in the brasserie, which is very relaxed with big wooden arm chairs.

For starter I opted for a beetroot and toasted walnut salad, whilst Kingsley had hake fritters. And then the best course of all, I had the venison burger, which was the tastiest burger I’ve ever had in my life and Kingsley had blade of beef, which can only be described as melt in the mouth. Not prepared to stop at two courses, I ordered the spiced winter plum crème brulee with gingerbread shortbread and Kingsley had dark chocolate marquise with cherry icecream. I was designated driver for the night but Kingsley then treated himself to a shot of The Glenlivet Nadurra 16 Year OldBatch Whisky.

With the drinks bill, it didn’t end up being quite the good deal I had in mind, but hey, we were celebrating. I will definitely be going back as well as highly recommending it to anyone that will listen!
