I think the whole world knows by now, but just in case you didn’t, me and Kingsley (or ‘Kingsley and I’, as I Mum would say) got engaged over Christmas. What followed was a champagne fuelled week and a smattering of lovely cards and gifts; amongst which was a voucher for afternoon tea at The Feathers. This hotel, bar and restaurant is in the lovely market town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire.
Like most girls, I’m partial to an afternoon tea, mainly due to the large amount of nattering you can do whilst consuming cake! Kingsley however, has never been for an afternoon tea so this was a first for him. I had images of Kingsley wolfing down the delicate finger sandwiches, before quickly moving on to the scones and then cake. And I wasn’t wrong. What is it with guys that they don’t quite get the concept of socialising whilst eating? Anyhow, when he was on his last slice of cake, I was just starting on my second scone, so he was in for a long wait.
We were treated to the Laurent-Perrier Tea and it was just lovely. The sandwiches were made with the lightest and fluffiest bread (and thumbs up from me for not putting mustard with the ham). The scones were still warm and absolutely delicious. And as for the cakes, well they weren’t too bad either, but I did have to bring half of mine home in a doggy bag because I was a bit ‘sweeted’ out!
On the way out, I couldn’t help but notice the gin bar. You heard me right. Gin. Bar. Oh I wish I didn’t live so far away. At the last count, they stocked 181 types of gin! I could easily sit in there all night long by the roaring wood burner working my way through a few gins!
