Before the weather gets so nippy that alfresco dining is a big no-no, I took advantage of a dry, mild Saturday lunch time, with a visit to the Cheltenham Market @ 252 Bath Road. There were many cakes to choose from, but it was the butternut squash, red lentil and sweet potato soup that took my fancy; especially as it was served with one almighty hunk of bread from the neighbouring Roots and Fruits. With a full belly and warm hands, I stole a few minutes to read some more of Highland Fling by local author Katie Fforde.

My best friend turned thirty recently and so to celebrate, we spent a whole afternoon at the wonderful Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham, indulging in their afternoon tea in The Great Hall.

Nestled away in The Suffolks area of Cheltenham sits Moka Coffee House. And on a drizzly evening after work, I took full advantage of their cosy surroundings and enjoyed a slice of their caramel and coffee cake, a mug of hot chocolate, and lost myself with Jojo Moyes and her book The Girl You Left Behind. I started reading it, because I thought the cover was very apt for this time of year.
